Message From Mr. Santos

  • Greetings,

I just wanted to share some of the activities that have taken place in our TEA Forest Garden so that you can keep them in mind if you wish to incorporate math, social studies, science, love of reading, and promote values such as working in the community, cooperation, sustainable development, and responsibility.

Last week, the students read "When Sue Found Sue" and had the opportunity to look for fossils like paleontologists in our garden. You can use some of the activities I share with you to reinforce science in your classroom.

Last, we welcomed our Sunshine AfterCare Program to the TEA Forest Garden. We will be implementing some new garden/technology activities with our participants.

From our TEA Forest Garden Administrator, Mrs. Elaine Fiore:

"We wanted to thank you for inspiring your school community to show up in big numbers for the Food Forest Mural Social Media Contest.

Our goal was to increase our reach on social media, so that more of our students and families have access to information about our STEM programs on Instagram. We went from a little over 200 followers to 1,000. This would not be possible if it weren't for you.  Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Miramar High School came in with the most follows. Followed by Lauderdale Lakes, Crystal Lake, Griffin/ Coral Springs High and Harbordale Elementary School.  We are grateful to you for going above and beyond.  We appreciate who you are to the students, teachers and families in your school community and our Food Forest community."
