Before and After School Child Care

    The mission of Before and After School Child Care (BASCC) is to provide students enrolled in Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) with:

    • an inclusive child care program in a safe and nurturing environment
    • a culturally enriching program that promotes the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of each child
    • a program that meets the highest quality of childcare standards

    Below are the child care programs offered at our school:

  • After Care Overview

    Christina G. Smith Community Mental Health Foundation offers specialty behavioral health afterschool programming to youth k through 12. Programs include our MOST Therapeutic After School for elementary aged students, our middle school programming now known as Youth Force and our high school program STEP (Supported Employment and Training Program). These programs all have a strong focus on character development and skill building. Each program synthesizes a number of treatment approaches which facilitate youth in building appropriate skills, attitudes and experiences within the home, school and community. There is a strong focus on building positive relations among these systems and changing patterns of interactions. All programs involved a number of academic supports and enrichment classes.

    MOST:

    • Social skill training
    • Anger management
    • Conflict resolution
    • Academic assistance
    • Family support services.

    Youth Force:

    • Youth development activities
    • Independent living skills training
    • Prevention education
    • Leadership training
    • Service linkage and referral
    • Academic enrichment activities

    STEP:

    • Career exploration
    • College and career readiness training
    • Independent living schools training
    • Success coaching
    • Summer work placement coaching

    Please note an application does not guarantee enrollment. Enrollment is based on availability. If the program has reached capacity, your child(ren) will be added to the program’s waitlist.
