Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Partners:

Welcome back! We hope you had an enjoyable and restful summer.  We are excited about the start of the 2018-19 school year.  Embedded in the mission of Whispering Pines School is a continued focus on academics and social/emotional learning.  Our staff remain dedicated to schoolwide instructional practices that enhance self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making.  We are proud of the academic achievements our students made throughout the last year and look forward to continued growth.  As always, we seek to create a welcoming, participatory and caring climate for learning through collaboration with families, community members and stakeholders.

Whispering Pines School has noteworthy security changes for the 2018-19 school year. As you arrive for meetings, early pick up of your student, etc., please allow an extra few minutes to participate in the new security measures.  The front gate will be open and monitored by the school security specialist during drop off and dismissal times.  During the school day, this gate will remain locked.  People wishing to enter the school during these times will need to call the phone number posted outside of the gate.  At this time, a security team member will meet the visitor at the gate.  Our single point of entry is now fully functioning; signs will alert you to this entrance.  Please have your photo identification available to present to staff at this point.

In addition to the changes detailed above, students and staff will be wearing identification badges throughout the school day.  During the first week of school, all students will be provided with a badge and a removable lanyard to wear.  The badge will be collected at the end of each school day.  It is also noteworthy that students and staff will be entering and dismissing from the single point of entry only.

This year, open house will be held on August 30th from 6:00-7:30.  We look forward to seeing our families at this time.

My door is always open to parents, teachers, students and staff.  If you have a question, I will do my best to find the correct answer.  Thank you, in advance, for your support this year.  Your support also allows us to be focused directly on instruction and helping our students meet with success.
