  • Mrs. Cara Coletti-Span, Assistant Principal, 8th Grade

    Mrs. Cara Coletti-Span

As your 8th grade administrator, I would like to welcome you back to the 2022-2023 school year. Eighth graders are the leaders of the school and I challenge you to put forth your best effort to excel like never before! Together we will “Reach for the Stars” and make William Dandy shine!

With the help of the "8th-grade team" (my counselor, my teachers, and support staff), I strive to ensure that your child's last year at our school provides opportunities for them to grow and flourish socially, emotionally, and academically in a safe and secure environment. I encourage all students to join a club or try out for a sports team and get involved in the final year of their "middle school experience".

Before becoming a school-based administrator, I was an educator at the middle, high, and adult/community school levels. I am a product of Broward County Public Schools and graduated from South Broward High School. I currently hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Prior to joining the WDMS family in 2015, I served as an assistant principal at Margate Middle School from 2006-2015.

In addition to my work life, I have raised three children, all graduates of Broward County Public Schools. My daughters have both graduated from FAU and my son is a graduate of UCF.

  • Ayanna B. Whitworth-Barner, Assistant Principal, 7th Grade

    Ayanna B. Whitworth-Barner

Hello William Dandy School Family. I am Ms. Whitworth-Barner, affectionately known as Ms. W-B.

I am excited about the 2022-23 school year and honored to return as the 7th Grade Assistant Principal. I share Principal Winston-Davis’ dedication to caring for our students while providing them with a rich educational experience. This year, it is my personal goal to ensure our 7th grade students and staff raise the standard of excellence and achievement through rigorous instruction, engaging activities, and character education. I am also committed to supporting our faculty and staff because without them, there would be no student success.

Our theme this year is “Reaching for the Stars”. Our administration and staff will focus on building students through character education courses and programs such as Lead for Change, PASL (Personalization, Academics, Social-Emotional Learning) and Peace Club, while bringing back some successful initiatives such as Peer Counseling and PBIS (Positive Behavior Incentives and Supports), which will allow us to address the unique needs of our students and families.

My commitment to each of you is that I will treat your children with the compassion and consideration that I give my own. I believe in the boundless potential of children and our goal is to encourage them to reach for the stars!
