Food and Nutrition Services offer variety and well-balanced nutritious meals at a low cost. School lunches provide an assortment of foods including daily meal salads and fresh fruit. School meals are healthy, meeting the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. By choosing lunch at school, students learn to make healthy choices, reinforcing nutrition education taught in the classroom. Delicious breakfasts are served daily in all Broward County Public schools.
Cost of a Meal
Breakfast: Free for all Broward County Public School Students.
Lunch for Elementary School Students: $2.00
Ice Cream (sold on select days only): 40¢
Free/Reduced Lunch Applications
o Online applications will be available as of July 17, 2020
o Returning Students: a new free & reduced lunch application must be submitted every school year. Current benefits expire as of October 1, 2020. At which time, students will need to pay full price. See schedule below
o Incoming Kindergarten, VPK, and New students to Broward County schools are considered “Full Price” until they apply and are approved.
o All parents must complete their own applications, the schools cannot complete it for them. They may obtain assistance by contacting the Meal Benefits Office, Food & Nutrition Services Department at 754-321-0250.
o Status of the application will be done via email or you may call the Meal Benefits Office, Food & Nutrition Services Department for status.
o If parents do not wish to complete an online application, they may call Meals Benefits to request a paper application. Paper applications should be returned vial mail or hand delivered to Foods & Nutrition office.
o Applications for Free or Reduced meals are processed within 10 days.
