Mr Broomfield's Message
Mr. Alfred Broomfield
Dear Mustang Family,
It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year. It is an absolute honor and privilege to serve as your new principal of this great school and community. I look forward to the opportunity to build on the success that has already been established. McArthur is well known for its rich history, lasting traditions, and Mustang pride. I am excited to collaborate with such an involved community of parents and stakeholders to provide our scholars the very best high school educational experience possible.
As an educator, I am entering my sixteenth year after having spent seven years in middle school and the remaining in high school. I spent the last four years serving the students and community of Coconut Creek High School both as an assistant principal, and the past year, as an Intern Principal. As such, I look forward to providing our scholars a real world 21st century learning experience that will include rigorous college preparatory strategies that prepare our students for college, and experiential learning opportunities for life and career readiness.
Our staff has worked extremely hard preparing curriculums and the campus environment for an exciting year of teaching and learning. The success and accomplishments of the school last year are something to truly celebrate. McArthur High School not only increased its school grade from a “C” to a “B,” but student achievement scores increased in academic disciplines as well.
In addition, we are excited about our newly adopted Cambridge Program which offers a well-rounded and rigorous college-level curriculum for any scholar accepted in the program. Successful Cambridge students can receive an international AICE diploma which enables scholars to earn up to two years of college credit and automatically receive the highest level of Bright Futures scholarship in the State of Florida. That equates to full tuition, books, and a stipend at any four-year Florida University including UF and FSU.
Once again, I am extremely excited about this new opportunity to serve this great school and community. I look forward to getting to know each of you and supporting you in all that you do for the school and the community. I challenge all of you to get involved and be an active member of your school by supporting athletics, clubs, JROTC, performing arts, as well as engaging in volunteer opportunities. I look forward to being actively engaged and visible within the school and community. Mustangs continue to strive to be the best and never settle for less. Failure is Not an option.
Excellence, No Exceptions, No Excuses.
“It’s a Great day to be a Mustang!”
Alfred L. Broomfield II, Principal
