Greetings from The Village!
I am delighted to welcome our families back to what is sure to be an amazing 2023-2024 school year! Here in The Village, we have a continued commitment to the concept of teamwork to make a difference in the lives of our scholars, as that and strong partnerships are the hallmarks of what makes an educational institution successful!!
Our goal is to always raise the bar by setting high expectations for our scholars to reach extraordinary achievements. Our school-wide “House System” creates a positive atmosphere, that establishes a climate for increased scholarly achievement. The scholars and staff love this as it creates opportunities for us to collaborate and support everyone in a safe space.
We are also excited for the opportunity to pursue becoming one of the first elementary schools in the Piper Zone to become a Cambridge School. By focusing on project-based learning, our aim is to provide opportunities for our scholars to build on their written and oral communication skills. In doing so, we are setting our scholars up for a successful Cambridge pathway for their high school career.
Please consider joining our school volunteer program and our PTA as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s programs and its operations. We seek volunteers to help us with the following activities:
1) Reading with children who need extra help
2) Working on “pre-reading” skills with scholars (letters, sounds, sight words, etc.)
3) Assistance at school-wide events (Field Days, Field Trips, School Advisory Council, PTA activities, etc.)
Again, welcome to a new school year in The Village! We look forward to the continued support of our school community as we live out this year’s theme: “One Team, One Dream, Making a Difference!”
Educationally,
Wanda E. Haynes, Principal
