Welcome to the Northeast High School website and our Incredible School! It is an amazing honor to serve Oakland Park and surrounding communities as the Principal of Northeast High School. We are anxious to see what will occur during the 2023-2024 school year as we continue to focus on teaching and learning. We are ready to celebrate all the great accomplishments that our students and staff will have this year. We are excited about the three magnet themes in our Academies of Excellence. Alternative Energy has joined our award-winning Latin and Industrial Biotechnology programs. These three programs will continue to provide a rigorous college preparatory curriculum for our high-performing scholars. The Latin Academy has been recognized as the Best Latin Program in the state of Florida several times in the past 20 years. Northeast High School, for the 4th time in the past 5 years, has been recognized by Magnet Schools of America for our efforts, receiving both the top awards of a Magnet School of Excellence and Distinction and the National Award of Merit. Northeast High School is making great strides with the Cambridge International Program. This Innovative Program is rich in history, rigor, and tradition. Our students have done a phenomenal job on their Cambridge AICE exams. We have had many students in the past four years earn the prestigious Cambridge AICE Diploma which awards them a full Brite Futures Scholarship for college. Brand new for 2023-2024 is our 3 ACES Academies. We are accepting 9th and 10th students for all 3 New Academies; Aerospace, Cyber-Security, and the Design Art Academy. Each Academy will have a 3-course progression ending with one or more Industry Certification Examinations. There are no academic requirements (test scores or GPA) to be accepted into one of the Academies. Qualifying students may also receive bus transportation to Northeast. Renovations and new construction are still hot topics at Northeast. Our construction partners have recently completed several projects in building 12 (new weight room), building 1/North, Media Center, Auditorium, 2500, and our Gymnasium. Building 3 (culinary arts lab and STEM lab), Boys and Girls locker rooms, and building 5 (Band) renovations are underway. The NEW 24-classroom addition (Building 29), Lecture Hall, and new chiller are in the final phases of completion. With a little luck, these buildings will be open this fall. I would like to congratulate the amazing students in the Class of 2023. You have left an amazing legacy for future Hurricanes to attempt to live up to or exceed! Our 2023 Graduation Ceremony at the Broward Performing Arts Center was incredible. We celebrated our graduates and their accomplishments as we bid farewell to them. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
