Welcome to the Northeast High School website and our Incredible School! It is an amazing honor to serve Oakland Park and surrounding communities as the Principal of Northeast High School. We are anxious to see what will happen during the 2022-2023 school year as we continue to focus on teaching and learning. We are looking forward to all the great accomplishments that our staff and students will do this year.

We are very excited about the three magnet themes in our Academies of Excellence. Alternative Energy has joined our award winning Latin and Industrial Biotechnology programs. These three programs will continue to provide a rigorous college preparatory curriculum for our high-performing students. The Latin Academy has been recognized as the Best Latin Program in the state of Florida several times in the past 20 years. Northeast High School, for the 3rd time in the past 4 years, has been recognized by Magnet Schools of America for our efforts, and this year we received the top award of a Magnet School of Excellence, National Award of Merit. This makes Northeast the only traditional high school of Excellence in Broward! We do have a limited number of Magnet and Reassignment seats available if you are interested in becoming a Hurricane.

Northeast High School is making great strides with the Cambridge International Program. This Innovative Program is rich in history, rigor, and tradition. Our students have done a phenomenal job on their Cambridge AICE exams. We have had many students in the past two years earn the prestigious Cambridge AICE Diploma which awards them a full Brite Futures Scholarship for college.

2022 Highlights: Our Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Team was again named a Florida State Finalist and National Qualifier for their Infrared Radiation and Sound with a High Pitch Frequency Project that is meant to keep birds away from airports, preventing injuries to animals, people or airplanes.

Our Equity Club has earned the distinct designation as a No Place for Hate School by the Anti-Defamation League. Our Physics students competed in the 2022 Physics Bowl, earning Second Place Honors in the Southeast Region, over schools from Georgia, Alabama, North and South Carolina.

Renovations and new construction are still hot topics at Northeast. Our construction partners have recently completed several projects in building 12 (brand new weight room), building 1 A/C, life safety, roofing, and added a new chiller to the campus. Building 3 (culinary arts lab and STEM lab), Media Center, Auditorium, Gymnasium, Boys and Girls locker rooms, building 5, and 2500 renovations are underway. The tilt-wall construction of a NEW 24-classroom addition and lecture hall has broken ground and is scheduled to be completed next school year. The new plan also outlines the demolition of several old buildings in South and throughout the campus.

I would like to congratulate the amazing students in the Class of 2022 that left a remarkable legacy at Northeast with dignity and grace! Our 2022 Graduation Ceremony back at the Broward Performing Arts Center was incredible, as we celebrated our graduates and their accomplishments as we bid farewell to them. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

Make your four years at Northeast the most memorable by building a transcript that reflects high achievement and a well-rounded resume full of leadership experience for your future. Northeast Hurricanes will continue to Strive for Excellence in all facets of the High School Experience. Go Hurricanes!
