Principal's Message

  • Mrs. HallGreetings Parkside Families (updated 1/21/2022),

We hope that you all have had a really nice week and enjoyed the long weekend.  Next week is Celebrate Literacy Week.  At Parkside we hope that all of our students enjoy reading and celebrate their successes as they continue to grow as readers.  Next week we will dedicate each day to celebrating literacy and we hope all of our students will participate will all of the other students across our District.  On Monday, we will be Wild About Reading.  Students should wear mismatched clothing. Tuesday is Reading all the way to college so wear your favorite college shirt.  Wednesday is guess that book.  Dress up as a character from a story you like.  Thursday is reading sends a positive message.  Wear any shirts that has a positive message on it.  Finally Friday is Reading adds color to our lives.  Wear your favorite color head to toe.  We really hope that you all will join in and participate in these fun days and as parents, please read a story every night with your children throughout the week. Our PTA movie night has been postponed at this time.  Due to the recent uptick in COVID cases, the PTA felt this was the best option at this point.  More information will be coming if and when they decide to reschedule. Thank you to all of the parents who have been abiding by our new late sign in policy.  Please remember it is best to start the day off with your children being here on time, but if you are running late, we MUST have you sign in your child in the lobby.  Thanks for your help with this.Just a reminder to all families, we only have one car loop.  The south side of the school is used for staff parking and bus drop off.  If you are caught doing this, you will receive a ticket from our SRO.  Please remember safety is the most important thing for all of our students.i-Ready Challenge is up and running here at Parkside.  This is a class/student challenge where we are trying to get 100% of our students on i-Ready for at least 45 min per week in reading and math and passing their assigned lessons.  The goal is not for them to be on for hours, just the minutes expected.  Please have your child check their minutes at home and if they need to do a little more before Sunday night, please help them out with this.  At the end of the challenge, the students in the classes who win will get to do something fun to me.  In the past they have taped me to the wall, they have turned me into an ice cream Sunday and thrown pies in my face.  I am not sure what they will do this time, but the kids love this.  Thanks for your help at home. Parkside will once again be offering Extended Learning Opportunities after school beginning in April.  While this may seem a ways away, the planning starts now.  Please be on the look out for a flyer coming home soon.  These are paid learning experiences for 8 sessions.  It is a great way for our students to get involved while on campus. Wishing you all a great weekend.  Thanks for being a part of Parkside where small hands can change the world in a big way.

    Laneia Hall, Principal
