Greetings Parkside Families (updated 10/07/2024),
Administrator’s Corner
October is here and I can’t believe how fast this year is going already! We are one week away from the end of the 1st quarter. Before you know it, we will be bringing in the Holidays. October, November and December bring a lot of different activities so please pay close attention to your teacher’s communication apps, Parent link, our marquee and website so you don’t miss out.
All parents should have had their first conference or should be having this very soon. You also should have received a copy of the parent report of your child’s first FAST assessment. If you have questions or concerns about this, please discuss with your child's teacher. This is our baseline data, and we will be taking the next assessment PM 2 in January. It is important that you come in, meet with your child’s teacher face to face and discuss his/her progress. We want to make sure you let your children know school is their job and their progress is important to you.
Our annual Halloween Parade is right around the corner and we hope you can come out and join in on the fun. On Thursday, October 31st, students will be allowed to come to school dressed in their costumes and bring a change of clothes if they want to change. With their costumes, they must still follow BCPS dress code policy. Students are not allowed to cover their faces with masks, but can have face paint if they like. Also, please remember no toy weapons are allowed. The parade will begin at 8:30 in our car loop. PTA will be having a dance for the students once the parade is over. If your child does not celebrate Halloween, we always have alternative activities for students in our media center. Please make sure you have let your child’s teacher know if this is the case.
This week a flyer will be going home about our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon. This is scheduled for Friday, November 22nd in the cafeteria. We invite all of our families to come out and have lunch with their children to celebrate all we are thankful for. This is such a wonderful day, where we decorate our cafeteria, eat the school’s Thanksgiving luncheon, and spend time with our families. We do not want you to miss out so it is imperative that if you are wanting to participate, you read the flyer, RSVP and pay for the event by the deadline. We have to adhere to this time line as we order food for the event 3 weeks prior in order to properly prepare. Please be on the lookout for this coming home soon.
Have you had a chance to check out all of our great things happening at our school. Check out or schools’ website or our PTA’s Facebook page and see what’s going on. If you would like to get more involved, please reach out to your child’s teacher or contact our front office. We love our volunteers. If you haven’t already, please go to www.browardschools.com/getinvolved to fill out a volunteer application.
Last week was National Custodian Appreciation Day and we want to take a moment to say thank you to our amazing custodial staff. You may not see them during the day, but they are behind the scenes keeping our building, grounds and classrooms looking great. Mr. Brown, Mr. Santiago, Mr. Oliver, Ms. Jimenez, and Ms. Hernandez go above and beyond to make sure your children have safe and clean environment daily. If you see them, please say thank you!
Wishing you a bountiful fall season.
Thanks for being a part of Parkside Where we G.L.O.W., Growing and Learning our Way.
