  • Barbara Krantz, Director of Theatre

    Barbara is a South Florida native, and an alumnus of Parkway Middle SOTA. She attended The University of West Florida where she earned her BFA in Musical Theatre. After college she free-lanced across South Florida teaching children’s acting classes at Broward Community Schools. She then went on to attend The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London England where she earned her masters degree in Actor Training and Coaching. She returned home and continued teaching across Broward County when the opportunity came to join the incredible faculty and staff at Parkway Middle SOTA. In her spare time Barbara likes to spend time with her niece and 4 nephews, do yoga and take her German Shepherd on walks.

    The Drama Program provides theater experiences for all students; identifies the talents and/or aptitudes of students for theater, provides opportunities for students to develop their creativeness and imagination, and provides instruction during school and at all stage productions on and off campus.

    Students in the theater/drama program will demonstrate an understanding and use of theatrical terminology, demonstrate and understand appropriate use of their speaking voices; understand various aspects of technical theater, including stage craft, costuming, lighting, sound, and makeup, demonstrate use of the human body as a means of dramatic expression, understand basic pantomime and improvisational techniques, and also demonstrate responsible participation.
