Our History

  • Charles R. Drew Elementary School

Charles R. Drew Elementary is a richly diverse school community. Our school is well known for its nurturing atmosphere and strong academic program. Students meet high standards for academic achievement and behavior. Students from the local community attend Drew as well as students who joined the gifted and talented magnet program for Math, Science, and Technology. Named after the pioneer in blood plasma preservation, Dr. Charles Richard Drew, our school has enabled students from all walks of life to guaranteed qualified education that is imperative in today's academic world.

Drew first opened its doors in 1992 and has been a high performing school in Broward County each year as measured by the National, State, and District standards.

In addition to our outstanding magnet program, Charles R. Drew Elementary offers a range of special education programs for students with disabilities. As a Title 1 school, we offer specialed programs such as FCAT CAMP, Robotic Club, Computer Club, and Homework Assistance, as well as other supplementary instructions to raise the achievement of students who are failing to meet the challenging state standards.
