    Dual Enrollment
The Dual Enrollment Program at Broward College (BC) is an accelerated program that allows eligible public/charter, private and home school secondary students to take post secondary coursework and simultaneously earn both high school and college credits, saving both time and money! Dual Enrollment students are exempt from the payment of application fees, tuition and laboratory fees.  College courses are offered at BC campuses and centers, including the Broward College Online campus, and at several high school campuses.

Any BC Dual enrollment student taking an online dual course is not permitted to have a study hall on the Western High campus.

    Early Admission
Early Admission, a form of dual enrollment, allows eligible high school senior students to enroll in at least 12 credits per term, Fall and Spring, and maintain a college GPA of 3.0 or greater. Early admission students wishing to matriculate to BC will need to submit their final high school transcript showing their graduation date.

You are encouraged to sign up for the BC Dual Enrollment Remind. Please sign up only once by texting your assigned class code below to 81010.

    Dual Enrollment Guidelines
    (updated June, 2021)

To qualify for Dual Enrollment (DE), students must meet the minimum test score and grade point
average (GPA) requirements for the institution to which they intend to take courses. The District has
DE articulation agreements with Broward College, Florida Atlantic University, Florida International
University, and the University of Florida. Please visit the following site at:
https://www.browardschools.com/Page/42959 to see the requirements for each institution.

In high school, students should take seven instructional classes (and one personalization period) each
semester on an A/B block schedule and four instructional classes each semester for 4x4 block schools.
Students should have one less instructional class during the school day on the high school campus for
each DE class that they are taking off the high school campus (including online DE classes).

Early Admission students are limited to 15 total credit hours per semester, including any labs.

BCPS supports summer dual enrollment classes at:

    • Broward College with a maximum of one course total for the entire summer, no matter what
      session.
    • FAU Museum of Discovery and Science summer program (MODS).

    Grades 6-10

    • Students who meet the DE eligibility criteria may take one* DE course per semester at BC, FAU,
FIU, or UF for a maximum total of two courses during the school year.
    • The DE class may be taken on the college campus, on the high school campus, or online.

    Grade 11

    • Students may take two* total DE courses per semester at BC, FAU, FIU, UF, or any
combination of those schools for a maximum total of four courses during the school year.
    • Both DE courses may be taken on the high school campus; however, students may take a
maximum of one DE course on the college campus or online. The second DE course must be
taken on the high school campus.

    Grade 12

    • Students may take three* total DE courses per semester at BC, FAU, FIU, UF, or any combination
of those schools for a maximum total of six courses during the school year.
    • All DE courses may be taken on the high school campus; however, students may take a maximum
of two DE courses on the college campus or online. The remaining DE course(s) must be taken on
      the high school campus.

*Courses with a required lab are considered one course, even though the lab is a separate course for registration purposes.
