About our Theater Program

  • Students in all our performing arts magnet majors and across the Parkway Middle School of the Arts campus have the opportunity to work in our technical theatre programs.

Our backstage tech program focuses on a scenic, costume, prop, and makeup design, as well as the various aspects of backstage running crews under the direction of TBA and in partnership with TBA and Wildhorse Showorks.

Our electronic tech program focuses on the design and operations of lighting, sound, projections, and photographic and video production under the direction of TBA.

Both tech programs are organized through the Performing Arts Office under the direction of our Artistic Director, Ms.Nayomi Braaf. Students interested in participating in either of these crews should stop by the Performing Arts Office or Mrs. Terl's Black Box Theatre Classroom for an application.

There is one technical theatre class offering that is taught by TBA in conjunction with the above programming. All Parkway students have the opportunity to request the course at the end of the year when completing elective course selections. The Technical Theatre course requires a teacher recommendation and active participation on at least 2 student production crews throughout the year.
