Ladies: Becca's Closet is Available to Assist!
Becca's Closet a nonprofit organization that donates FREE homecoming, military ball, and prom dresses to low-income students who cannot afford to purchases dresses and who identify as female. They pick a dress; they keep the dress. It's as simple as that!We have been in the community for 20 years and want to make sure that every girl who needs a dress know that we are here to help.The process is simple:- Becca's Closet works by appointment only.
- Request an appointment by calling 954-424-9999 or submit the appointment request form at https://www.beccascloset.org/i-need-a-dress
- A volunteer will CALL each girl to schedule her appointment. (This requires girls to answer their phones and or check their voice messages!)
- At her appointment, each girl will be paired with a volunteer who will act as her personal shopping assistant.
- Appointments are booked for one weekend day each week.
- Appointments will always be at our Festival Marketplace Mall storefront in Pompano Beach.
- Each girl must prove current high school enrollment by presenting a current high school ID when she arrives at her appointment.

The National Pan- Hellenic Council (NPHC) is comprised of traditionally African American fraternities and sororities, also known as the Divine Nine. The Broward County Council – NPHC promotes interaction amongst the Divine Nine and each organization’s representative through meetings, collaboration with program initiatives, community activities and functions.
The primary purpose and focus of each member organization is to promote camaraderie amongst all members and provide service to the communities they serve. Each member promotes community awareness and action through educational, economic, and cultural service activities.
We are pleased to announce our second annual scholarship initiative. Our desire is to award scholarships to graduating seniors within the Broward County area who will need financial assistance in furthering their education through attending a university, vocational/trade school, or enlisting in a military branch. Our scholarships are based on financial need.
We will award book scholarships of $250.00 each and scholarships of $500.00 each.
Please share our scholarship application to any student interested in applying. They may complete the electronic application or print the application and mail it to the address listed on the application.
All applications with supporting requested documents must be submitted or post marked by April 27, 2023 to be considered. Applications will be reviewed and those students meeting our requirements will be scheduled for a virtual interview with our Scholarship Committee. An email address is required as we will communicate with the student via email. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

The City of Pompano Beach is proud to offer scholarship opportunities for graduating high school students.*
*Student must attend and graduate from a high school in Pompano Beach. Enrollment in a post-secondary educational institution is required.
The City of Pompano Beach in partnership with Coastal Waste and Recycling provides an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors who have shown an interest in environmental issues and have made a commitment to continuing their education by attending a college, university, or technical/trade school. Awards A one-time scholarship of $2,500 will be awarded to each of the top four (4) applicants. Award criteria are based upon academics, participation in school related activities, community service, participation in environmental clean-up or preservation activities, and the personal essay. Evidence of enrollment in postsecondary education must be provided prior to the scholarship being awarded. Chris Hixon Scholarship Application Due March 10, 2023
The deadline to apply is March 10, 2023. Please help us make sure all eligible and interested senior students receive the application ASAP so they have time to complete and return it by the deadline. Please consider forwarding this to your HS Coaches and BRACE Advisors, asking them to disseminate to their senior athletes. You may also encourage your school staff to have the information posted on the school website, posted within Canvas to the Class of 2023, and posted in Naviance. Feel free to share any other ways that you can promote the scholarship to the students. We truly appreciate your help in getting the scholarship information out to the students!
We are pleased to be able to provide 4 scholarships in the amount of $4,000 each, one scholarship will be awarded to a student at each school Chris Hixon worked at and one additional scholarship will be awarded countywide, each in memory and honor of Chris.
Criteria for Eligibility:
1. Must be a Student-Athlete within BCPS.
2. Must have an unweighted GPA of 3.25 minimum.
3. Must be pursuing higher education upon graduation. Either traditional post-secondary education or technical career institute.
4. Must have a minimum of 50 volunteer hours.
5. Must submit two letters of recommendation: one by an athletic coach AND one by a teacher, mentor, guidance counselor, or principal.
6. Must submit a personal essay of why they feel they deserve this scholarship. Describing sports played, academics, organizations, service to the community, short and long terms goals, and any other unique aspects that they feel would qualify them as an outstanding student-athlete and an upstanding citizen.
We rely heavily on the letters of recommendation and the personal essay to select the students we feel best represent and to whom we would like to offer the scholarship, so please emphasize this to the students and staff.
