Working hard in all classes, keeping up with classwork and homework, being organized and asking for help are all ways for your child to be successful academically.
Students must pass 4 out of 6 classes in order to be promoted from sixth grade to seventh grade and then from seventh to eighth. They need four points in each subject within the four quarters. An A=4 points, B= 3, C=2 and a D=1. Two of the four subjects must be a core subject, which are Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.
In order to be promoted to high school, eighth graders need the following:
Pass four out of six classes.
Pass Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.
Have a completed a four year high school personalized planner.
Have a career education component which is embedded within eighth grade Social Studies.
Students must have 3 courses of Math, 3 courses of Language Arts, 3 courses of Science, and 3 courses of Social Studies. One course must be Civics with students who entered sixth grade after the 2016-17 school year.
“Course Recovery” can be done in a variety of ways. Parent/ Student letters will be sent home In January 2017 to students’ that are In Danger of Failing.
