Middle Grades Promotion Requirements
For a student to be promoted to high school from middle school, they must complete the following courses:
- 3 middle grades or higher* courses in English language arts (ELA).
- 3 middle grades or higher* courses in mathematics (Math).
- 3 middle grades or higher* courses in science.
- 3 middle grades or higher* courses in social studies.
- One of these social studies courses must be Civics. A statewide, standardized end-of-course exam for Civics must be taken and factored in as 30% of a student’s course grade.
- Have a career education component that is embedded within eighth grade Social Studies.
- May include high school courses for high school credit.
Students must pass 4 out of 6 classes to be promoted from sixth to seventh grade and then from seventh to eighth grade. They need four points in each subject within the four quarters. The subject areas are ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Report Cards/Interim Progress Reports
Report Cards and Interim Progress Reports will be issued every quarter. Parents also have access to Virtual Counselor, which allows for monitoring grades, attendance, state test scores, bus route, and attendance.Letter
