Food and Nutrition
BCPS Food and Nutrition Services is committed to providing Broward County students with well-balanced nutritious meals to support student achievement. Our focus is to aid student learning by serving meals that reinforce lifelong healthy lifestyles. We encourage our students to POWER-UP with breakfast and lunch to provide students the energy they need to learn.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the District has continued to prepare and serve meals to its students and has served more than 2 million meals through multiple distribution sites across Broward since March.
While the District continues instruction through eLearning, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended the summer meals flexibility waiver, allowing BCPS to provide breakfast and lunch at no cost to all children 18 years and younger – regardless of meal eligibility status and even if they don’t attend a BCPS school.
The “Grab-and-Go” meals are available at all elementary, middle and high schools on Tuesdays and Thursdays 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m to 5 pm.
- “Grab-and-Go” meal bundles include multiple days’ worth of meals.
- Parents picking up meals for a student or who are unaccompanied by the student must present a form of identification, such as a student ID, report card, or a birth certificate.
When face-to-face instruction resumes, or possibly in a hybrid scenario, the District expects to return to its traditional meal line service with specific protocols in place.
The online application is an easy and convenient way for parents and guardians to submit online multi-child meal benefit applications. There is not a fee for using the website as the service is provided free of charge by your District. The 2020 - 21 online multi-child application is located at Myschoolapps.com website. If you already applied online for Free and Reduced-Price Meal Benefits, contact the Meal Benefits office at 754-321-0250 for application status.
