  • Clubs and organizations are a great way to help develop character and the skills that will benefit you in school, your career, and in life. Skills like commitment, leadership, effective communication, and being able to work successfully in a group all come from participating in a club or organization. Joining a club is a great way to make friends, develop leadership skills, and boost your college resumé.

  • Angels Watching Over Me (AWOM)

    Sponsor: Ms. Sarah Akiba

    Meeting Times: Every Friday, GR 6 - 3 PM - 4 PM, GR 7 - 4 PM - 5 PM, GR 8 - 5 PM - 6 PM

    A support group started at Olsen Middle School that creates a safe space for girls in grades 6 - 8 to talk and learn about low self-esteem, self-love, etiquette, personal hygiene, bullying, compassion, and female leadership.

  • Chess Club

    Sponsor: Mr. Michael George and Ms. Elisa Weisel

    Meeting Time: 2nd and 4th Thursday 3 PM - 4 PM

    It is the mission of the Royal Knight Chess Club to maintain a formal program of instruction to teach the game of chess and to promote and support its educational program through consistent practice, developing community and local and national partnerships to increase the awareness of the educational value of chess.

  • Cultural Arts Club

    Sponsors: Ms. Lisa Hoskins and Ms. Cathy Stachura

    Meeting Time: Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 3 PM - 4 PM

    Cultural arts are the transformation and collaboration of different art forms.  It promotes creative thinking and critique, which encompasses the analysis of contemporary visual art, literature, music, theatre, film, dance, etc.  The cultural arts help to explain the world in which we live. The worldview often challenges current ideas, thoughts, and practice.

  • Debate

    Sponsor: Ms. Nakia Samuel

    Meeting Time: 2nd and 4th Wednesday 3 PM - 4 PM 

    Debate promotes critical thinking, logical reasoning, and interpersonal communication skills.  Debaters achieve higher GPAs, higher test scores, better college admission outcomes, etc.

  • First Priority

    Sponsors: Mrs. Annemarie Robinson and Pastor Shane

    Meeting Time: Every Wednesday from 3 PM - 4 PM

    First Priority is a faith-based club aimed at developing a personal relationship with Christ.  Since 1998, First Priority has been so passionate about connecting the Church to reaching the middle and high school campuses for Christ.  

  • Future Florida Educators of America [FFEA]

    Sponsor: Mr. Charles Zimmerman

    Meeting Time: Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 3 PM - 4 PM

    Florida chapter of the Future Educators of America provides a forum for students to become aware of career opportunities in education and nurtures their interest in teaching as a career.

  • Jazz Band Club

    Sponsor: Ms. Jennifer Luechauer

    Meeting Times: Every Thursday, Jazz Band 3 PM - 4 PM

    Students enrolled in the symphonic band course at Awesome Olsen MS meet additionally once a week to practice and hone their performance skills for band performances and competitions.

  • National Junior Honor Society (N.J.H.S.)

    Meeting Time: Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 3 PM - 4 PM

    NJHS admits students in grades 6 - 9 who meet the requirements for membership outlined by their school's chapter are eligible to be invited for membership.  Students must be in their second semester of the sixth grade for consideration.  Minimum standards - GPA 3.0 out of 4.0, voluntary service contributions without compensation, evidence of leadership, and exemplary character.

  • Student Government Association (S.G.A.)

    Meeting Time: Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 3 PM - 4 PM

    The Student Government Association (SGA) at Awesome Olsen Middle School iCAN Magnet Academy is a student-led group representing the interest of ALL students in the decision-making process.  SGA's elected student representatives and general assembly work with teachers and administrators to positively impact the school culture and environment through events, activities, fundraising, and student representation at SAC & SAF meetings.
