• Audition Requirements

    All auditions will consist of an interview, a group activity and a performance/presentation, as detailed below.

    Acting

    • Prepare two monologues (1 comedic, 1 dramatic)
    • Monologues must be 60 seconds each
    • Monologues must be memorized
    • Monologues must be from a published play
    • Be prepared to read from an unfamiliar script and to improvise

    Musical Theater

    • Prepare one 60 second monologue
    • Monologues must be memorized
    • Monologues must be from a published play
    • Students should also prepare a 16 bar (approx. one minute) vocal selection from a Broadway musical or a gospel song. No Pop music
    • Please bring accompaniment pre-recorded on a CD or an MP3 player
    • Accompaniment tracks must not have a lead vocal track. You should be the only singer we hear
    • You may provide your own accompanist, if desired. A piano will be available; however, you may not accompany yourself
    • Be prepared to read from an unfamiliar script and to improvise.

    Technical Design & Production

    • Prospective students must bring at least one example of an art, craft, sewing or carpentry project that represents their potential technical skills and interests.
    • It is best to create an original project for this interview; however, students may bring a project that they have completed within the last few months, so long as it demonstrates their creative potential and work ethic.
    • The student may bring more than one example, if desired
    • The student should be prepared to answer a series of questions about their project.
    • Remember that your project IS your audition. It should demonstrate not only your skills but your desire to be in the program. Make sure it’s your best work.
