Summer Jazz Workshop

The Summer Jazz Workshop, sponsored by Apprentices in Jazz in partnership with Dillard Center for the Arts,  is an exciting two week intensive youth oriented program that focuses on the fundamentals of jazz music for young musicians.

The Summer Jazz Workshop is open to middle school and high school students. Students must have their own instruments to participate in the program. Sessions are conducted by experienced faculty musicians who expose the students to various subjects and concepts not fully covered by private and/or traditional public school systems.

The workshop’s curriculum includes the subject areas theory, improvisation, ear training, practice, understanding forms and composition, leadership, and performances.  Students enrolled in the workshop are given the opportunity to perform at Arts Park in Hollywood as a part of the culminating performance.
