    Every student needs a safe, nourishing, and stimulating environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As educators, it is our responsibility to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by creating a learning climate that is comfortable, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. This is the mission of our faculty and staff.   

    Our curriculum involves the interests of the students but we also strive to make learning relevant to our students’ lives.  In other words, our curriculum is both skills-based and student-driven.  

    Teachers at HHHS deliver instruction in many ways.  Our faculty understands that it is important to incorporate integrated units, projects, group work, individual work, and hands-on learning in order to make children active learners.  In sum, our curriculum and teaching are customized to students’ individual needs, which is the best kind of preparation for college for our students.  

    A very important piece to all of this is creating a community of learners that allows for students to become active and caring members of society.  We support this goal by offering a wide array of extra-curricular activities which help to promote a healthy lifestyle as well as a well-rounded education, and we encourage our students to participate in these activities.  Extracurriculars at HHHS include the following:

    WP 2016 At Hollywood Hills High School, we embrace high standards of instructional excellence and academic rigor, defined according to 21st-century criteria.  In fact, HHHS earned placement on “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” 2016 List compiled by the Washington Post.  The Post ranked Hills among the top 10% nationally and 351st in the state, due to our school's success on providing access to advanced coursework to all students.  Hollywood Hills earned placement on “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” list of nearly 2,300, which annually evaluates all 23,000 U.S. public high schools based on the number of graduating seniors taking Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Cambridge tests before graduation. 

    At Hills, we embrace new ideas that further our community’s educational vision, while retaining those practices that have been proven to be effective through the years. We are pleased to support many programs and new initiatives, including those highlighted on these pages.
