The Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Department serves over 32,000 BCPS students with disabilities, providing individualized support through IEPs and a full continuum of services. Our goal is to ensure access, equity, and success for every learner—starting in Pre-K and continuing through adulthood.

School Improvement in BCPS follows a continuous improvement model driven by research-based best practices. Each school, in collaboration with its School Advisory Council, develops and monitors a plan that identifies needs and sets clear goals to improve student achievement and overall school performance.
