Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Kim Lloyd
Kim began her career in Education when she moved to Fort Lauderdale from a small town in New Hampshire 30 years ago. Her career path began in NH working with adults with special needs that had been institutionalized as children most of their lives due to limited resources afforded to families years ago.
Upon moving to Florida, she earned a bachelor’s degrees in education specializing in Varying Exceptionalities and Exceptional Student Education from Florida Atlantic University. She also earned a master’s degree in Reading and one in Education-specializing in Exceptional Student Education from the University of Miami.
Working with special needs children and adults has always been in her heart due to an uncle she learned was identified as Developmentally Delayed and had attended special classes throughout school growing up.
She has been with BCPS for 25+ years, recognized by the Broward County Recognition Program and has earned Teacher of the Year. She started as a teacher in all areas of Exceptional Student Education and for the last 18 years as an Exceptional Student Education Specialist acting as a liaison between the school and families in all aspects of their child’s program from evaluations, interventions, programs and services.
She is ecstatic to be back working directly with the high school students to help advocate, guide, support and watch them grow into young adults ready to choose their own career path. She has a deep commitment to dedicate her time working with students and families to ensure their success as well as the outstanding staff at STHS.
When not working, she enjoys time with her spouse and two grown boys traveling, watching all New England Sports Teams, and participating in any type of outdoor activity.
