Congratulations to 2023  Cooper City High School's Silver Knight Nominees, Honorable Mentions, and Winners!

This year, Cooper City High School students and their peers were recognized at a virtual ceremony celebrating the 64th Annual Miami Herald/el Nuevo Herald Silver Knight Awards. Silver Knight winners are high school seniors who have gone above and beyond to make their communities a better place. They are well-rounded and stellar athletes, performers, and scholars who have set themselves apart and earned their spot among past winners that have continued to do extraordinary things. Each of the 15 categories has one winner and three honorable mentions from each county (Broward and Miami Dade).

    Miami Herald Silver Knight Awards

The Silver Knight Award is the most prestigious community service scholarship offered in Broward County.  Competitors must initiate and carry out a project benefiting the community. Their GPA must be stellar.  Ideally, after they have graduated,  underclassmen will continue the work that they have initiated.

Each high school in Broward County may enter only one nominee for each of the fifteen academic categories.   The nominee’s community service project does not have to be related to his or her academic category.

There are only fifteen winners in all of Broward County. Each winner receives a check in the amount of $2,000, a free round trip air trip compliments of American Airlines, and a beautiful Silver Knight trophy.  Each of the fifteen categories allows for three runners-up who each receive a check for $500 and a Silver Knight plaque.

The nominees must be seniors and have worked on their projects throughout their high school years. All of the nominees excel academically and have hundreds of hours of community service in other areas than their specific projects.  They are to be commended as outstanding young people whose way of life is to give of themselves to others. Parents or students interested in more information can contact Mr. Ziccardi at 754 - 322 - 0200.
