Cooper City High School is on a 4 x 4 A/B Block Schedule. This means that each student will be taking four classes on an "A" day and four classes on a "B" day (alternating schedules of four classes every other day). Each period will be 90 minutes long.
Students in 8th-11th grade will be selecting their courses and meeting with their guidance counselors to review their selections over the next several months. They will be selecting 7 courses and be assigned a personalization class for a total of 8 classes. The personalization class will be a designated period of time in their day that provides them the opportunity to study, complete projects, review homework and notes, meet with their counselor, track their graduation progress on Naviance, research on line resources. They will be able to access these resources using their personal devices with their own account. It is our hope to ensure that each and every student will be on track for graduation at the highest level

Review the Course Descriptions
Students have received course selection cards for School Year 2019-2020 through their personalization class. Please review graduation information in Virtual Counselor prior to completing Scheduling Plan. Refer to the graduation requirements on our school website- https://www.browardschools.com/coopercityhigh (under Academics tab) to ensure that the most appropriate course of study is selected.
Student and the parent/guardian must sign the form to confirm 7 primary classes (4 core & 3 elective). Please also carefully select 4 alternate courses. These are courses that will be in student's schedule if the first 7 courses are not all scheduled. Students will automatically be scheduled into their 8th course, Personalization.
NOTE: District recommendations for core classes are based on previous test scores, courses taken, and grades earned. Students must get recommendations (signatures) from teachers before this card is handed in. Students are placed into the appropriate Language Arts, Math, Science, & Social Studies courses based on these recommendations AND course progression guidelines. The options listed on the card are the courses offered next year. Please select courses carefully and select only courses you are genuinely interested in. If there are any concerns, speak with Guidance Counselor prior to turning in the card.
Students will have 8 courses all year long: 7 Academic & 1 Personalization class.
Completed Course Selection Cards are to be returned to student's current personalization period teacher by January 30 (A day) January 31 (B day).
