BCPS welcomes all students and families who have been impacted by recent natural disasters that occurred locally and abroad.

The first step for enrolling is to determine which school your child will be attending, which is based on the address where you are staying. Determine your school here. This will allow you to input your address and receive the appropriate school information.

If you don’t have access to the internet, call the District’s main number, 754-321-0000, and a switchboard operator can assist you in determining your school.

The next step is to visit the school to complete the enrollment process.  Please bring with you any records you have to assist the school in placing your child appropriately.

No. BCPS understands that due to the circumstances of the natural disasters and displacement of families, parents may have incomplete records or no records at all for their child. School staff will work with parents to obtain as much information as possible to place the student appropriately.

Yes. BCPS has established a Welcoming Center to assist families displaced by one of the recent natural disasters. You can contact the Welcoming Center at 754-322-6650. You can also visit the Welcoming Center, located at Lauderdale Manors Early Learning & Resource Center, 1400 NW 14th Court, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311, for assistance in enrolling your child.

Yes. Unaccompanied youth who have lost housing causing them to reside with someone who is not their parent or legal guardian can still be enrolled and provided services. School leaders will assist you through the enrollment process and completing any required documentation.

Yes. Visit the school that your child will attend to complete the enrollment process and provide information to the school’s leadership regarding the student’s special needs. School staff will assist you with determining the appropriate accommodations and services for your child.

Yes. All schools across BCPS provide services for English Language Learners and our staff is here to help. During the enrollment process, information will be provided by the school regarding the services and resources available for your child during this time of transition. 

BCPS wants all students to be successful, and that includes ensuring your child receives all available services and resources during this time of transition. Under the District’s McKinney-Vento HEART Program, students are eligible for the following services:

• Immediate enrollment in school (even in the absence of normally required documents)
• ​Transportation to ensure educational stability (certain rules apply)
• Free school meals (breakfast and lunch)
• Assistance with school supplies, school uniforms and other identified needs
• Referrals to school and community resources
• Post-secondary planning for high school students

In addition, BCPS is partnering with the Florida Department of Health - Broward to provide health services to displaced students. This includes providing free immunizations, health screenings, physicals and other health-related services.
