The K-12 Florida State Mandates division is part of the department of Secondary Learning within Broward County Public Schools. The purpose of this division is to ensure the effective delivery of instruction aligned with the Florida State Board of Education mandates outlined in statute 1003.42. Through offering comprehensive instruction in the areas of African American History, Hispanic Contributions to the United States, Holocaust Education, and Women’s Contributions to the United States, the division aims to cultivate a nurturing and academically robust classroom environment. The vision is to see students equipped with the knowledge of the contributions of diverse Americans to build capacity to empathize with individuals from many backgrounds, cultures, and across many contexts. These mandated topics are required instruction and essential components that should be seamlessly integrated across the curriculum, contributing to the educational journey of every student, from kindergarten to twelfth grade.

From serving as politicians to breaking into American sports, and contributing to science, technology, and engineering, Hispanic people help shape the contemporary United States.

The History of the Holocaust (1933-1945) prescribes the teaching of the genocide of European Jews and other groups by Nazi Germany as a watershed event in human history. Encompassing a wide range of diverse cultures originating from many nations, AAPI communities consist of approximately 50 distinct ethnic groups speaking over 100 languages, connecting today's United States to Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean, Hawaiian, and other Asian and Pacific Island ancestries.
