Overview
The Sprouting STEM Museum Magnet School is an elementary magnet program that will afford students the opportunity to enroll in a dynamic and powerful applied science program that will inspire and motivate your child to invent, create, and solve problems, while learning the citizenry and technological skills needed to compete in tomorrow’s world.
Sprouting STEM students will:
- Utilize Engineering in elementary curriculum developed by Museum of Science in Boston, that integrates engineering with elementary science topics and connections to literacy, social studies, and mathematics.
- Work and study in the Learning Innovation Lab equipped with state-of-the-art technology and web-based software programs.
- Use state of the art technology to collect and analyze data, investigate real world problems, collaborate, design and build Engineering project, and participate in project-based learning curriculum that culminates with Museum nights at the participating schools.
- Work with local engineering graduate students, and other experts in applied science fields. These experts continue to collaborate and assist teachers and their students with the STEM electives and school-wide projects.
- Benefit from school partnerships with local colleges, universities, and businesses that support national STEM educational goals.
- Participate in local, regional, and/or national competitions such as the First Lego League Robotics Competition.

All elementary age children, grades K-5. There is no academic criteria to attend and transportation will be provided within identified areas/zones.What are the benefits for my child?

Sprouting STEM Museum Application
Admission information and instructions
Admission to Magnet Schools is by application only. The application window is December 1, 2016 until February 8, 2017. Applications received, postmarked, or electronically submitted after February 8, 2017 will be processed at a later date, pending space availability. Applicants who are not accepted MUST reapply each year.
Siblings: Applicants applying to a Magnet School who have a sibling (brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, step-brother or step-sister, living in the same household) attending a Magnet School, and who will continue to attend the school the next year, will be placed in that Magnet School on a space available basis prior to placement of other applicants. Siblings must apply to the same Magnet School in order to be considered.
Applications must be submitted by the February 8, 2017 deadline for sibling priority placement.

Notification: Applicants will be notified regarding acceptance or denial of their application.
Registration: Students must register at the Magnet School upon receipt of of the acceptance letter to secure space. Registration deadline is indicated in the acceptance letter.
