  • The School Board of Broward County, Florida is the first school district in the nation to receive the Council of Great City Schools’ “Award for Excellence in Financial Management.” The award represents a significant achievement by the school district’s Board of Education, Superintendent and administrative staff who support the highest standards in financial accountability and controls needed to safeguard and protect the financial integrity of the District. Their efforts reflect an extraordinary dedication to excellence in financial management and demonstrate outstanding stewardship of taxpayer dollars with the ultimate beneficiaries being the children who attend public school in Broward County.

  • The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Awards

    Distinguished Budget Presentation AwardThe Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada awarded a  Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to the District for its Annual Annual District Budget for the fiscal year beginning July 01, 2021. This was the twenty-seventh consecutive year that the District has received this prestigious award. This award certifies that the ACFR substantially conformed to the accounting and reporting standards adopted by GFOA.


    GFOA 2021 The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada awarded a   Certificate of  Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the District for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021. This was the twenty-sixth consecutive year that the  District has received this prestigious award. The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence Award certifies that the  ACFR substantially conformed to the accounting and reporting standards adopted by GFOA.

  • The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) Awards

    ASBO 2022For the 26th consecutive year, Broward County Public Schools has received the Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials International for it's 2021-22 budget. To earn the award, the budget was rigorously reviewed based on stringent criteria. The award represents a significant achievement of the highest standards of school budgeting.

    Certificate of Achievement 2021The Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting to the District for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021. This was the thirty-ninth consecutive year that the District has received this prestigious award. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Excellence, a governmental unit must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized ACFR, the contents of which conform to program standards. Such reports must satisfy both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States and applicable regulatory requirements. A Certificate of Excellence is valid for one year only.
