College Credit Incentive For Eligible ESP

WHAT IS THE COLLEGE CREDIT INCENTIVE PROGRAM?
The current contract between The School Board of Broward County, Florida, and the Broward Teachers Union-Education Support Professionals (BTU-ESP) provides a stipend of $500 to eligible education support professionals who complete nine (9) college credit hours or up to $100 for completion of a technical college course.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM?
Education Support Professionals (ESPs) currently attending college who have completed three (3) years of service in a BTU-ESP bargaining unit position are eligible to apply

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
Eligible ESPs must earn a minimum of nine (9) semester hours between July 1st and June 30th of the 2023-2024 school year. The semester hours shall be related to the field of education and shall be courses which benefit the interests of the school system AND receive a grade of C or higher in their approved undergraduate courses and a grade of B in approved graduate courses.
A Stipend up to $100 may be provided to ESPs who successfully complete at least one education related vocational course.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR THESE FUNDS?
College Credit Incentive Program applications are completed electronically using the Application Database. Once a copy is electronically submitted to ESP College Credit Incentive Dropbox at ESPCollegeCreditIncentiveDropbox@browardschools.comthe original hard copy applications with supporting documentation (such as official transcript(s)) MUST also be submitted and due no later than 4:00 pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 to:

WHAT IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?
All applications are due in our office no later than Wednesday, July 31, 2024 by 4:00 PM EST. Official Transcripts are also due by Wednesday, July 31, 2024, 4:00 PM EST.

WHAT OTHER PAPERWORK WILL BE REQUIRED?
In addition to the application, you will need to submit a current official transcript of your academic work, which reflects the grades of the classes taken during the 2023-2024 school year. Copies are not accepted.

HOW MUCH MONEY CAN I RECEIVE?
You may receive a stipend of approximately $500 from the College Credit Incentive Program for college coursework and up to $100 for technical college courses.
The incentive payment will be only processed for employees who are in an active status at the time the incentive payment is made.

HOW WILL I RECEIVE THE FUNDS, IF AWARDED?
The funds will be paid after the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year upon verification of the employee’s grades and review of the official transcript.
The District will process payment once approved and it will be reflected in the following scheduled pay-cycle.

IF I RECEIVE COLLEGE CREDIT INCENTIVE PROGRAM FUNDS FOR ONE YEAR, AM I GUARANTEED RECEIVING THEM THE FOLLOWING SCHOOL YEAR?
No. Eligible ESPs must apply each year.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION?
Completed applications and appropriate documentation are to be scanned and emailed to the ESP College Credit Incentive Dropbox at ESPCollegeCreditIncentiveDropbox@browardschools.com. Please note that the original applications and supporting documentation (such as official transcript(s)) MUST still be submitted and received by our office no later than Wednesday, July 31, 2024, 4:00 PM EST. WHO DECIDES IF I WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR AN AWARD?
- A joint management-labor committee shall administer the program. The committee is comprised of three (3) representatives from BTU-ESP and three (3) representatives from the Broward County Public Schools.
- A rubric with clear and consistent guidelines has been created to help guide the evaluation of each application.

HOW SOON WILL I BE INFORMED AS TO THE STATUS OF MY APPLICATION?
Applicants will be reviewed by the committee once the deadline for submission closes. Applicants will be notified of their application status following the committee’s review and decision. This will occur sometime in the Fall / Winter 2024-2025 school year.

CAN AN ELIGIBLE ESP EMPLOYEE SUBMIT MORE THAN ONE APPLICATION?
Only one application per eligible ESP employee will be accepted.

IS IT REQUIRED TO OBTAIN ADMINISTRATOR APPROVAL TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION?
No, however, it is the employee’s responsibility to secure, complete and submit appropriate district documents and supporting documentation when applicable.

CAN I REQUEST AN ADVANCE TO COVER EXPENSES?
No, the program is a reimbursement fund. The applicant must pay for all associated expenses up front and attend and complete the required coursework in order to be eligible for consideration.

WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR REIMBURSEMENT?
The program application must be completed in its entirety in order to consider and process your submission. This form includes the necessary information the committee needs to evaluate your submission. Additionally, supporting documents such as your official transcript from your college or university and or a completion certificate from your technical center or college are necessary documents which must be submitted for reimbursement. Failure to follow and submit all required documentation by the deadline may make the applicant ineligible to receive reimbursement. It is the applicant’s responsibility to properly obtain, complete and submit all required documentation and to follow the established process and timelines.

HOW DO I KNOW THAT THE APPLICATION WAS RECEIVED?
After you have completed and submitted the complete application form, sign it, and scan it along with appropriate documentation to the ESP College Credit Incentive Dropbox at ESPCollegeCreditIncentiveDropbox@browardschools.com, you will receive a confirmation email indicating receipt of your electronic submission.

DOES FUNDING COME OUT OF MY LOCATION’S BUDGET?
The program reimburses individuals from a fund specifically created to support this program under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between The School Board of Broward County, Florida (SBBC) and the Broward Teachers Union-Education Support Professionals (BTU-ESP).
