Gifted Endorsement
  • To register for a course, click on the title of the course and type in the search terms box "Gifted".  All of the gifted courses available for registration will open. 

  • Curriculum Development for the Gifted
    Location: Online - Canvas or Blended via BVU

    Curriculum Development for the Gifted is one of five courses needed to complete the gifted endorsement. Participants will learn how to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum and instruction for gifted learners. Participants will learn how to write an interdisciplinary unit incorporating technology, differentiation, alternative assessments and products. We recommend the other four courses as prerequisite for Curriculum so strategies and understanding of gifted learners will be evident in the final unit.

    Education of Special Populations of the Gifted
    Location: Online - Canvas  or Blended via BVU

    Education of Special Populations of Gifted Students is one of five courses needed to complete the gifted endorsement. Participants will examine the many misconceptions of what it means to be gifted as well as the challenges and issues that face the diverse populations of gifted students. This course incorporates many of the issues central to multicultural education, special education, and at the same time it will allow participants to confront difficult questions of quality, educational excellence, prejudice, stereotyping, and discriminatory practices on the national, state, and local levels of education.

    Guidance and Counseling for the Gifted
    Location: Online - Canvas or Blended BVU

    The course provides participants with an understanding of the affective aspects of giftedness and the psychological, cultural and environmental factors that influence the growth of gifted children. Effective teaching approaches, as well as guidance, mentoring and counseling interventions to attend to the unique needs of gifted children will be examined. Participants may need to obtain and view the movie "Little Man Tate", if they choose that assignment option in week 2.

    Nature and Needs of Students Who Are Gifted
    Location: Online - Canvas or Blended via BVU

    Theory and Development of Creativity for the Gifted
    Location: Online - Canvas or Blended via BVU

    Theory and Development of Creativity is one of the five courses needed to complete the gifted endorsement. Participants will examine research on creativity with an emphasis on practical strategies and classroom applications. Participants will learn about creativity blocks and how to foster creativity within the classroom.
