Roles & Responsibilities

  • Key to the success of professional learning communities is the collaboration of staff at each school who take on the roles and responsibilities specified below. The Inservice Facilitator (IF) works in tandem with the Principal and PL Administrator to ensure the configuration of PLCs is aligned with the school’s vision for teaching and learning.

    PL Administrator

    - Provides the time and opportunity for PLCs to meet
    - Approves PLC Proposals
    - Monitors PLC Team progress
    - Monitors PLC Minutes by team
    - Provides feedback on the implementation of professional learning and effectiveness towards reaching targets

    - LAB Resources- PLSS Contact 
    Inservice Facilitator

    The IF acts as liaison between the school’s assigned PLC teams and PLSS Support Contact (PD Specialist). The IF provides essential information, tools, and resources to facilitate successful implementation of the PLC model in their building. The IF: 

    - Maintains rosters
    - Ensures PLC enrollment
    - Participates in all training
    - Closes, by May 15th of each year, all PLCs to ensure those who completed all requirements earn appropriate inservice credit

    - IF PLC Close Out 
    - PLSS Contact 

    PLC Facilitator - Ensures meetings are held according to guidelines for authentic PLCs
    - Facilitates PLC meetings
    - Documents PLC Minutes
    - Assists the Inservice Facilitator with closeout of PLC

    - Facilitating Authentic BCPS PLCs Training 
    - LAB Resources 
    - PLSS Contact 

    Participant

    - Actively participates in at least ONE PLC for the entire year.
    - Documents outcomes of learning and impact on student performance through the CARE Cycle
    - Provides PLC Feedback at the conclusion of the professional learning experience.

    PLSS Support Contact
    (PD Specialists) 

    PD Specialists guide Professional Learning Community Teams to successfully implement and appraise their team’s learning.  Working collaboratively with the Inservice Facilitator, PLC Facilitator, and PL Administrator, our PD Specialists provide expert advice and tools to ensure participants will be able to earn inservice credit within the Professional Learning System.
