Application Requirements

Students

• Must have a Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) student identification number (10-digit 06xxxxxxxx number) – visit any BCPS school to request one

• Must be at least 5 years old by September of the application school year

• Must meet magnet program academic requirements

How To Apply

1. Visit Find My Assigned School to confirm the student's assigned home boundary school

2. Based on the student's assigned home boundary school, apply as follows:

   unpublished To participate in a Magnet program at an assigned home boundary school

   No School Choice application is required to participate in a Magnet program offered at a student's assigned home boundary school.

   1. Contact the school's Magnet Coordinator for information on how to participate in the program

   ---

   check_circle To participate in a Magnet program at a different school other than an assigned home boundary school

   A School Choice application is required to participate in a Magnet program not offered at a student's assigned home boundary school.

   1. Meet all application requirements

   2. Review School Choice dates – learn when to apply & expect application results

   3. Complete a Magnet application during an open application window

   4. Email the following Middle & High school required application documents to SchoolChoice@browardschools.com:

      • Most recent report card

      • Most recent English Language Arts & Mathematics Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) or other nationally recognized standardized test scores

      Missing grades/test scores or don't meet minimum academic requirements? Request a Magnet Panel Review

      
      

      Incomplete applications missing grades or test scores will not be processed

   5. Check your status and email for your application status

      1. Before the application window closes, confirm your application status is "complete" & ready for processing – make changes as needed

      2. During the notification window, find your final application results – if awarded a seat, immediately claim & register at the school

      Awarded seats not claimed & registered by the deadline will be offered to other applicants

Transportation

Bus transportation is determined by the Applied Learning Department and Transportation Services, based on each Magnet program transportation zone and student's address.

• Student lives more than 2 miles from the school & within the Magnet program transportation zone

   Military IDs & notarized letters not accepted

   • Proof of legal guardianship

     • Student's birth certificate – must include military personnel's name

     • or

     • Filed court documents showing permanent legal custody of the student – must include military personnel's name

   • Proof of military status

     • Active duty orders

     • or

     • Discharge papers

   Incomplete applications will not receive priority

6. Check your status and email for your application status

   1. Before the application window closes, confirm your application status is "complete" & ready for processing – make changes as needed

   2. During the notification window, find your final application results – if awarded a seat, immediately claim & register at the school

   Awarded seats not claimed & registered by the deadline will be offered to other applicants

• Must meet Reassignment, Magnet, or Nova application requirements

4. Indicate Sibling priority on the application

5. Email supporting documents to SchoolChoice@browardschools.com upon request

   Notarized letters not accepted

   • Proof of legal guardianship

     • Student's birth certificate – must include the same legal guardian's name as the student attending the requested school

     • or

     • Filed court documents showing permanent legal custody of the student – must include the same legal guardian's name as the student attending the requested school

   Incomplete applications will not receive priority
