EOCs (End of Course Examinations)

    The Florida Department of Education has released new guidance under Emergency Order 2021-EO-02 which provides flexibility to school districts in how state assessments impact graduation requirements for Spring 2021, End-of-Course exam impact on final grades, promotion and retention decisions, eligibility for Bright Futures Scholarships, and the use of student scores for school/district grades and teacher evaluations.  This web resource will be updated by Wednesday, April 14 to reflect Broward County Public Schools.


     

    EOCs are required for the courses identified below.  The Florida Department of Education provides information on the design and implementation of EOCs and further detail on EOC administration in 2020-21 

    EOC exams will be administered between May 3 and June 9. Specific test administration tests will be communicated to students and parents by the school no later than April 19.

    Civics (typically taken in grade 7 for middle school course completion)

    • Students enrolled in middle school Civics course
    • This is typically grade 7 in BCPS
    • EOC score is 30% of final grade for the course

    Algebra

    • Students enrolled in high school Algebra 1 course
    • This course is typically taken between grades 6 and 12 in BCPS
    • EOC score is 30% of final grade for the course
    • Passing the class is required for graduation
    • Demonstrating competency in Algebra 1 by passing the exam, or earning a comparitive score on the Geometry EOC or an SAT/ACT is required to qualify for graduation.

    Geometry

    • Students enrolled in high school Geometry course
    • This course is typically taken between grades 7 and 12 in BCPS
    • EOC score is 30% of final grade for the course
    • Passing the class is required for graduation

    Biology

    • Students enrolled in high school Biology course
    • This course is typically taken between grades 7 and 12 in BCPS
    • EOC score is 30% of final grade for the course
    • Passing the class is required for graduation

    United States History

    • Students enrolled in high school US History course
    • This course is typically taken between grades 7 and 12 in BCPS
    • EOC score is 30% of final grade for the course
    • Passing the class is required for graduation
