Parentally Placed Private School Student

Students who are parentally placed in not-for-profit private schools and have an existing ESE eligibility are able to receive ESE services. The services provided include:

Academic instruction for grades K-12 for up to one hour depending on the individual student need per subject area in reading and/or mathematics weekly.

Consultation services to private school teachers by a certified Broward County Public Schools’ teacher.

Speech and/or language services for grades PK-12 for up to one hour provided in the private school during regular school hours or at a Broward County Public Schools’ site after school hours.

Weekly Consultation and Collaboration in Academics, Social/Emotional, and Independent Functioning Skills for ESE Preschool students attending eligible private schools.

Reevaluation every three (3) years.
If a student who is parentally placed in a private school is suspected of having a disability, the following services are available;
- Evaluation provided by Broward County Public Schools at no cost to the parents to determine if the student meets eligibility criteria for special education.
- To request an evaluation and/or private school services for your child who is enrolled at an eligible private school, please complete and email documents #2-8 to esepss@browardschools.com after clicking "Submit" on the form. In the "Subject" line of your email, write "Private School Services Request for student's first name, last name"

2. Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Registration form - this form is to register your child to BCPS Private School Services so that we can access your child in our electronic management system. The BCPS registration does not affect your child's current enrollment at the private school. Your home address must match the address on the driver's license provided. Please select one of these forms:

Call 754-321-3426 with any questions3. Copy of your child's Birth Certificate4. Copy of Registering Parent Identification- Copy of Registering Parent's Driver's License - The address on the driver's license must match the address on the BCPS registration form
- Proof of Address (e.g., current utility bill, lease agreement, deed, etc. showing your name) - We only need this if your home address does not match the driver's license or the registration form
5. Copy of your child's private evaluation report(s), previous/current and latest IEP, and/or previous/current Section 504 plan (if applicable)6. Release of Information - please add the name, address, and phone number for the Private School on the blank line next to the "release records to ___________"7. Parent Information Form - only needed if your request is for an initial evaluation8. Notice of Procedural SafeguardsOnce you submit all the documents to esepss@browardschools.com, a BCPS Private School Case Manager will review and forward your child's request and information to your boundary ESE Specialist and will be available for any guidance, assistance, and support throughout this process.
