Autism Awareness Month

April is Autism Awareness Month, and April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day. During the entire month of April, you'll hear about autism-oriented fundraisers, autism awareness presentations, autism-friendly happenings, and special opportunities to recognize people on the autism spectrum. Broward County Public Schools fully supports Autism Awareness Month. Here are a few recommended activities:
- Family engagement day – 1.5 hours, decorate, sensory, AT, speech, manipulatives, leisure, 15-minute centers
- T-shirt designed by a student, fundraiser
- Students do pledge of allegiance on the morning announcements
- Life skills room / sensory fundraiser
- Puzzle pin fundraiser
- Design bulletin board or mural in a prominent place in school
- Sensory center activities
