  • The Middle School ESLS Team is dedicated to helping students and families transition from elementary to secondary learning. Our team is made up of 10 extraordinary team members who are specialist in their areas and work collaboratively to ensure learning for all students, across all platforms. The Middle School ESLS Team visits schools on a rotating schedule to provide support to ESE Specialist, Support Facilitators, teachers of SVE, and teachers of general education.   • Assistive Technology Program Specialist

    The Assistive Technology Program Specialist works collaboratively with schools to support students who have or will need Assistive Technology. This is inclusive of supporting schools with the AT evaluation process, supporting schools with new devices, changes in devices, and training staff on how to use the devices. The Assistive Technology Program Specialist also provides school sites with access to training modules through a collaboration with the Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resource System (FDLRS).

  • Behavior Program Specialist

    Our Behavior Program Specialist support schools in meeting behavioral need of learners which includes supporting Behavior Intervention Plans, assisting schools with Functional Behavior Assessments, providing trainings on zones of proximity, supporting teachers with positive behaviors, visual schedules, de-escalation strategies, and zones of proximity within specialized classrooms. Behavior Program Specialist also support the school site Behavior Technician who works directly with students on their caseload. The ESLS Office provides each school site with a Behavior Technician. The role of the behavior technician is to work with staff and students and support elementary to middle school transition, behavior strategies as identified on the student’s behavior plan while creating learner independence.

  • Compliance Coach

    Our Compliance Coach supports school in ensuring that schools are compliant with district, state, and federal statutes. The compliance coach works exclusively with the ESE Specialist and the school site administrators to ensure that students are accessing their education as listed on their IEP.   • Curriculum Program Specialist

    Our Curriculum Program Specialist support schools in meeting the academic needs of learners and working collaboratively with the school site on how to meet state expectations (standards and access points) while monitoring goals, implementing accommodations, and exploring school site data to strategically plan professional development and data driven instruction. Our curriculum team supports teachers with providing specially designed instruction across all settings.

    The IEP team will use state guidelines to make a curriculum decision regarding whether a student will be taught on Standards or Access Points. To learn more about each curriculum you can access the links below.

  • Field Coach

    The Field Coach supports ESE Specialist at the school site with the EdPlan platform, monitoring IEP due dates, working collaboratively with the ESE Specialist in using academic and behavioral data to guide IEP decisions. The Field Coach’s support is individualized to meet the needs of the ESE Specialist and the students at the school. Additionally, ESE Specialist who have begun their role over the last three years are provided on-going professional development and support through our #RockStarHotline mentoring program.

  • Speech Language Pathologist Program Specialist

    The Speech Language Pathologist Program Specialist works collaboratively with schools to support students who receive direct and or related therapy in the areas of speech and language. Speech Language Pathologist support the school site SLP as well as contract SLP’s.  

  • Transition

    House Bill 173, which went into effect on July 1, 2021, requires that families and schools begin collaborative conversations about postsecondary outcomes for students with disabilities. The transition from high school to adulthood centers on student input, student needs, and community partnerships that support student success. The conversation and goals around transition are fluid and change with your child as their interests and goals change.

    Transition is inclusive of transition planning, deferment options (extended transition programs), work-based learning, and helping students achieve their postsecondary goals.
