CHAMPs Classroom and Behavior Management

All teachers want their students to be orderly, responsive, engaged, and motivated. According to the most current research on teacher effectiveness, putting a successful behavior management system in place is a sure way of achieving these goals. We recommend using the CHAMPs trainings to achieve this and that all teachers within each school are trained on this classroom management approach.

CHAMPs for Classroom Teachers
This 7-part Brainshark series explores each of the key components of an effectively managed classroom. Each Brainshark focuses on one component in detail, allowing the participant to learn, implement and practice one new set of skills at a time. These Brainsharks can be watched as an online learning experience or as a CHAMPS review.NOTE: Participants will not receive an iCHAMPS Certificate for completing these Brainsharks. To receive a certificate or earn inservice points, you must take an iCHAMPS Course through LAB. Beyond CHAMPs for Staff without Assigned Classrooms
Access this 4-part Brainshark series for staff without active classrooms. These staff may interact with or supervise students, but do not have an actual assigned classroom. This may include Paraprofessionals, Bus Assistants, Support Staff, Cafeteria Staff, Bus Operators, etc. These series can be used by individual staff or with groups in Professional Learning Communities. A team in the school, such as the Leadership or Discipline Team would be responsible for determining best training options and then providing ongoing coaching. These courses are open for the majority of the school year; participants must register with our office, successfully complete the series, and complete the online appraisal BEFORE MAY 23rd. CHAMPs II: Creating a Behavior Support Plan
This six part series assists teachers and CPS Teams in creating Behavior Support Plans based on the 4-Step Problem Solving Process. CHAMPs II is designed to assist a small percentage of students who do not respond to Core behavioral classroom strategies, such as CHAMPs, and require Supplemental behavior strategies at Tier 1 or behavior interventions at Tier 2. A BSP may be written for just one student or for a small group of students with the same or similar problem behavior.
