These dating violence prevention and intervention programs and/or curriculum will help you provide the highest quality education in a safe, respectful, and violence-free environment. We recommend choosing an evidence-based curriculum or proven program, but have provided multiple options. Anti-Defamation League (ADL)
Grades K-12
ADL's anti-bias education helps to create and sustain an inclusive and violence-free school. ADL has lessons on all violence prevention related topics, many with videos.
A Thin Line, MTV
Grades 5-12
Things that start out as a funny wall post, a sarcastic photo comment, or a flirty text can turn hurtful, obnoxious, or even abusive. This site provides videos, facts, quizzes and advice about boundary-defying activities like sexting, constant messaging, spying and digital disrespect – so your students will know where the line is, and be ready to draw their own.

Character Education
Grades K-12
Each Monthly Character Education Newsletter and Family Newsletter contains lessons, videos and activities on BCPS's 8 character traits. These traits promote positive behavior and create a safer and more respectful learning environment for our students.
Coaching Boys to Men
Coaches and Advocates
This coaching kit provides coaches with resources to promote respectful behavior among players and help prevent relationship abuse, harassment, and sexual assault. The curriculum, trainings, and card series illustrate ways to model respect and promote healthy relationships.
Common Sense Education
Grades K-12
Online safety plays a key role in dating violence prevention and intervention. Common sense has curriculum made up of 65 grade-differentiated lesson plans. The Scope & Sequence consists of 3 units for grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8, and 4 units for grades 9-12. Each unit has 5 lessons, family activities, and professional development resources. Topics include cyberbullying, privacy, safety, and more.
Couplets, #ThatsNotLove chapters
Grades 5-12
Use these short videos with discussion guides and lessons to help your students learn the gray areas between love and control. Then, if they see one of these behaviors in their relationships or their friends’ relationships, they won’t hesitate to say, “That’s Not Love!” Available in our department's SharePoint or their website.Dating Matters
Grades 6-7
This universal primary prevention curriculum teaches youth healthy relationship skills to reduce interpersonal violence. The curriculum is for students in grades 6 (6 lessons) and 7 (7 lessons) and is based on the Safe Dates proven program for students in grades 8-10. Learn more from the CDC. Dating Matters Online Training
Adults - community members or staff
The Dating Matters 60-minute, interactive online training is designed to help educators, youth-serving organizations, parents, and others working with teens understand the risk factors and warning signs associated with teen dating violence.

EVERFI
Grades K-12
Delivers free engaging digital resources to equip students with critical skills for success beyond the classroom. The digital education platform has free lessons, videos, surveys, assessments, and interactive exercises that teach financial capability, character, substance abuse prevention, STEM, health & wellness, social-emotional learning, relationship skills, cultural & civic literacy, and career preparedness. Get Real About Violence
Grades K-12
A research-based prevention curriculum that helps build a culture of non-violence. The program targets a wide range of violent behavior including bullying, teasing, and rumors for younger children or threats and assaults for older. Access the lessons in our department's SharePoint.
Love Is Respect
Grades 6-12
A wide variety of resources, including videos, fact sheets, curriculum, teacher guides, toolkits, etc.
One Love, #ThatsNotLove
Grades 5-12
One Love works to ensure everyone has the healthy, happy relationships they deserve. The #ThatsNotLove campaign provides 4 sets of short and shareable videos with lessons (Because I Love You, Behind the Post, Couplets, Love Labrynth) that work to shine a spotlight on unhealthy or emotionally abusive relationship behaviors—or the gray area between love and control. Planting Seeds of Prevention Curriculum Book
Grades K-12
Contains prevention curriculum on violence prevention, instructional strategies, health and wellness, and substance abuse prevention.
Reality Avenue, “Relationships: What is REAL Love?”
Grades 6-12
In this show, students explore what REAL love is and how to recognize the characteristics of healthy versus unhealthy relationships. Download the video and use discussion prompters and lessons to educate and empower youth to reduce relational violence. Download and view the video's script.
Reality Lane
Grades K-5
This series of 8 engaging character prevention education television programs are 10-15 minutes long, and relate to each of the District’s character traits: cooperation (September), responsibility (October), citizenship (November), kindness (December), respect (January), honesty (February), self-control (March), and tolerance (April). Each show has class lessons and discussion prompters.
Safe Dates
Grades 8-10
This research-based proven program consists of 10 lessons, a play, and a poster contest. It teaches healthy relationship skills to prevent dating violence. Click here to learn more and contact us for the lessons if you want them in your class.
Sanford Harmony
Grades PreK-6
Social and emotional (SEL) teaching program uses teaching strategies with activities to reduce bullying by developing student skills to communicate, cooperate, connect, embrace diversity, and resolve conflict.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
Grades K-12
SEL enables students and adults to recognize and manage emotions, solve problems effectively and establish positive relationships with others. SEL provides direct instruction in skills that enable students to succeed in school and life by being responsible citizens and decision makers. It supports school cultures and climates to allow students to practice life skills throughout their school experience.
Teen Dating Violence Prevention Month Toolkit
Grades 1-12
Once downloaded, utilize the BCPS's Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Month Toolkit’s attachments, lessons, and activities with your students to raise awareness and promote healthy relationships, while providing skills for intervention with unhealthy violent one. The toolkit can be used in February with the observance or as part of your year-round violence prevention efforts.
That’s Not Cool
Grades 6-12
Provides staff and young leaders with the tools (videos, fact sheets, etc.), training, and support they need to lead localized dating violence prevention efforts.
Your Choice, Your Action, Your Life
Grades 3-12
Use these PSA videos, made with BCPS students, along with their corresponding lesson plans to raise awareness and spark dialogue around issues related to violence, respect, and diversity.
