    Choose from these bullying prevention programs and curriculum to provide the highest quality education in a safe, respectful and violence-free environment. We recommend you choose an evidence-based curriculum or proven program, but have provided other options as well. For a more extensive list, BCPS employees may go to our department's SharePoint resource warehouse.

    Contains 3 bullying prevention lessons per grade which teach the key concepts every student needs to know to stop bullying. 1) What is bullying? 2) Why should I care about it? and 3) What can I do to prevent it?

    Above the Influence

    Above the Influence (ATI)

    Grades 1-12

    Every student’s life is filled with pressure, some of it good, some of it bad. The goal of ATI is to help students stand up to negative pressures and influences such as drugs and alcohol, bullying, discrimination, or any other destructive behavior or attitude. Use the ATI Toolkit's lessons as a stand-alone, or in preparation for the annual ATI March.

    ADL's anti-bias education helps to create and sustain an inclusive and violence-free school. ADL has lessons on all violence prevention related topics, many with videos.

    Be the 1 Positive School Culture Initiative (PSCI) Toolkit
    Grades K-12
    This Toolkit helps to create safer and more respectful school environments where all students can thrive. Only when students feel safe, can they truly focus on social and emotional learning (SEL) and academic success. Be the 1 uses evidence-based strategies to permanently embed Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for violence prevention and intervention within your school in a continuous improvement model. The messaging of this pro-social marketing campaign and lessons will inspire your students to Be the 1 to help prevent and intervene with bullying.

    Online curriculum made up of 65 grade-differentiated lesson plans. The Scope & Sequence consists of 3 units for grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8, and 4 units for grades 9-12. Each unit has 5 lessons, family activities, and professional development resources. Topics include cyberbullying, privacy, safety, and more.

    This universal primary prevention curriculum teaches youth healthy relationship skills to reduce interpersonal violence.     Delivers free engaging digital resources to equip students with critical skills for success beyond the classroom. The digital education platform has free lessons, videos, surveys, assessments, and interactive exercises that teach financial capability, character, substance abuse prevention, STEM, health & wellness, social-emotional learning, relationship skills, cultural & civic literacy, and career preparedness. Violence related lessons include Honor Code (grades 8-10), Say Something (grades 9-12), and The Compassion Project Lesson Plans for Teaching Empathy & Compassion (grades 2-4).​

     PBIS Bullying Prevention

    PBS/PBIS (Positive Behavior Support/Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports)

    PBIS is a prevention oriented multitiered framework for school personnel to (a) organize evidence-based practices, (b) implement those practices with high fidelity, and (c) maximize academic and social behavior outcomes for all students. Use these PBIS guides for elementary and middle and high. as well as website resources to reduce bullying behavior through the blending of school-wide positive behavior support, explicit instruction, and a redefinition of the bullying construct.

    The show series has two show formats available: 1) twelve, 30 minute shows on prevention topics such as Body Image, Addiction, Internet, Teen Stress, Self Injury, Diversity, Self Esteem, Depression/Anger, Bullying, Divorce, Character, and Relationships 2) eight, 10-15 minute shows on the District’s eight character traits. They can also be watched via BECON TV’s EduVision Video Portal.

    This series of 8 engaging character prevention education television programs are 10-15 minutes long, and relate to each of the District’s character traits: cooperation (September), responsibility (October), citizenship (November), kindness (December), respect (January), honesty (February), self-control (March), and tolerance (April). The shows have class lessons and discussion prompters as well.

    This research-based proven program consists of 10 lessons, a play, and a poster contest. It teaches healthy relationship skills to prevent dating violence. Learn more and contact us for the lessons if you want them in your class.

    Training for children and teens on how to recognize signs, especially in social media, of an individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and say something to a trusted adult to get them help.
